Description

Hello everyone Flynn: ... hi! ! Well I'm back with another piece of art and its a How to Train Your Dragon fanart :)!!

This is my first attempt at landscaping and I thought I would use my favorite scene from HTTYD2 to practice. I defiantly changed it up a bit to make it my own and made it more of a fantasyscape (?).
I never new this movie was so good until the doctor I was working with turned it on for our patient on Thursday and I was totally watching it instead of working and my doctor was like Icon - 416 Masamune Rage .....(sorry doc....) BUT IT WAS A DAMN GOOD MOVIE AND I'M GLAD I GAVE IT A CHANCE!!
But anyway, I'm not good with drawing creatures that are....not human...so I need to practice on that too. And the clouds were so annoying to do but I got it done :>

I hope you like it~ :)

Firstly, this piece is just wonderful! The landscape doesn't distract too much from the focus of the piece and really puts you into the world, as if you're an onlooker to this display! It's quite original in the fact that the landscape isn't exactly from the movie, rather it takes some key inspiration from it. The faraway dragons in the background look like they are actually flying and fit into the scene, with dynamic poses and enough detail to make them look real whilst also keeping the fact that they are far away from the focus! The only improvements I could spot are the fact that although the background is a beautiful blend of colours, it looks far less detailed and intricate than the rest of the piece. The way the clouds are all clustered together like cotton candy is a little distracting to me, and although I believe that green patch to the right is meant to be distant land, it just looks a little out of place. And although I don't think you're bad at drawing close-up dragons by any means, (Hiccup's face and legs look amazing!), his wings are at an angle that makes them look a little.. detached. They seemingly jut out at a strange angle rather than looking like they are atop his body. But to be honest, those are just nitpicks! Overall, this piece is very visually pleasing and a great piece of artwork to view.
